CHATTOGRAM, Jan 30: Counselor and Senior Trade Commissioner of Canada High Commission in Bangladesh Ms Debra Boyce met with Omar Hazzaz, President of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), at the Chamber office at Chattogram World Trade Center on Monday.
At that time, High Commission Trade Commissioner Kamal Uddin and Chamber Secretariat officials were present.
Chamber President Omar Hazzaz said: Chattogram has become an attractive destination for investment through significant infrastructural development under the visionary leadership of Sheikh Hasina.
Mentioning the possibility of investment in food processing, machineries, ICT, shipbuilding and infrastructure development sectors, he called on Canadian businessmen to invest in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Industrial area, the countrys largest specialized economic center located in Chattogram, using the geographical advantages of Chattogram and the various benefits provided by the Bangladesh government.
Counselor and Senior Trade Commissioner Debra Boyce said Canada is one of the destinations for Bangladeshi clothing.
There is an opportunity to increase the export of other products in addition to clothing in Canada. She hoped to work together with the Chittagong Chamber and the Trade Facilitation Office (TFOC) on how to utilize these opportunities.
She also emphasized on taking initiatives jointly with the Canadian High Commission and Chittagong Chamber to strengthen the relationship between the businessmen of different sectors of Chattogram.
