National Board of Revenue (NBR) is under pressure from entrepreneurs for access to business data to streamline import-export processes as they are willing to pay for the privilege.

In a statement on Friday at a function marking International Customs Day at Rajswa Bhavan at Agargaon, Abdul Muktadir, Chairman and Managing Director of Incepta Pharmaceuticals, emphasized the value of NBR information in navigating trade complexities.

Muktadir underscored the importance of timely access to information noting that it enables businesses to identify and address potential issues effectively.

He highlighted the challenges in import process, citing lengthy timelines and high tariffs on certain goods, which hinder competitiveness.

Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali echoed Muktadirs sentiments, urging incentives for compliant businesses to boost revenue collection. The event was also attended by NBR chairman Abu Hena Rahmatul Munim and senior officials.

The NBR chairman emphasized the need for capacity building to enhance revenue generation on this occasion. Munim called for increasing investments in capacity building and earnest efforts from the Ministry of Finance to foster the goal.

He called for withdrawal of 1 pc duty after LDC graduation emphasizing the need for continuous industrial and institutional capacity building.

In the face of evolving trade dynamics, entrepreneurs are clamoring for greater access to vital business information, recognizing its pivotal role in fostering a conducive business environment and driving economic growth.
