Two people, including a police man, were killed and seven others injured in a collision between a private car and a CNG-run autorickshaw in
Netrokona Sadar upazila on Friday afternoon.
The
accident happened at around 3pm at Jhausi area under Chollisha union of the upazila.
The deceased were identified as a constable of Fakirer Bazaar Police Investigation Outpost under Barhatta upazila Azizul Hakim, hailed from Trishal upazila, and the autorickshaw driver Md Faruque Mia, son of Solaiman Fakir, from Shabajpur area in Mymensingh.
Quoting locals, police said the accident occurred when the driver of the autorickshaw, carrying several passengers, lost control over the steering of the vehicle and collided head-on with a Netrokona-bound private car from Dhaka, leaving two dead on the spot and seven others critically injured.
Additional Superintendent of Police in Netrokona Shah Shibli Sadique confirmed the matter, adding that the injured were taken to Netrokona Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctors referred two of them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Legal actions were underway in this regard, added the police official.
