Only six teams compete in National Youth Handball

With just six teams competing, the National Youth Handball Championship for boys under the age of seventeen is set to start tomorrow, Saturday.

The District Sports Association (DSA) teams from Dhaka, Panchagarh, Bandarban, Chapainawabganj, Kushtia and Chattogram are taking part in the competition.

The officials of the Federation couldn come up with a good reason for only six teams participation. They were talking about how they had to make last minute preparations to arrange the event.
The Capt M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in Dhaka is the venue for the six-team national competition.

The Director General of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) Brigadier General Syed Md Motahar Hossain, as the chief guest, will inaugurate the tournament at 3:00 pm.

The first match will see Bandarban DSA take on Kushtia DSA at 9:00 am, followed by a match betwe en Chapainawabganj  DSA and Chattogram DSA at 10:30 am.

In the inaugural match at 3:00 pm, Dhaka DSA will meet Panchagarh. Chapainawabganj and Kushtia DSAs will play the fourth and last match of the day at 4:30 pm.

The group round will be played till 30 January. The first rounds top two teams will square off in the final on 31 January at 2:30 p.m.

Walton Group is the sponsor of the tournament.

In this regard, a press meet was held at Shaheed Capt M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium on Thursday.

In response to various questions, sponsor Waltons Senior Additional Director (Head of Welfare and Sports Department), FM Iqbal Bin Anwar, senior deputy executive director Rabiul Islam Milton, and tournament organiser Selim Miah Babu answered.
