A bicyclist was killed after being hit by a bus in Meherpur Sadar upazila on Tuesday morning.
The accident took place at around 8am in Rajnagar area under the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Adhir Karmakar, 56, son of late Joydeb Karmakar, a resident of Mominpur village under the upazila.
Quoting witnesses, police said Adhir was going to his work, riding on a bicycle. On the way, a Saudia Paribahan bus ran over the man when he was crossing a road, leaving him critically injured.
Locals rescued him and took to Meherpur General Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead upon arrival.
Meherpur Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Koni Mia confirmed the death matter, adding that legal action would be taken if anyone files a complaint in this regard.
