Rahmatganj, Fortis play vital matches today

Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society and Fortis Football Club will play their individual group matches of the Federation Cup Football today (Tuesday) at separate venues in the country. The results of these matches will help decide their fate in the event.

The Old Dhaka team will meet Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in Group-A at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in Dhaka at 2:45 pm. Fortis FC, on the other hand, will face Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra in Group-C at Birshrestha Ft Lt Motiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj at the same venue.
On the day, Rahmatganj MFS and Fortis FC will be playing their last match in the group round.

A total of ten teams are playing the group round, splitting into three groups. While Group-A and Group-C had three teams, Group-B is consisted of four teams.

As per the tournament system, a total of eight teams from three groups will get tickets to play in the quarterfinals.

So, along with the champion and runner-up of each group, the best two third placers will be awarded a ticket to the next round as well. For this reason, the matches today are very important for all to keep the good places in the groups.

In the meantime, in Group-A, Rahmatganj played a 2-2 tie with Police Football Club in the first match. So, winning the match today is essential for the Old Dhaka boys to stay ahead of their opponents.

In Group-C, Bashundhara Kings is at the top of the point table with three points. It will be the first match in the round for Sheikh Russel KC while the

last for the Fortis boys who have zero points losing the first match to Bashundhara. Winning a full three points will be the only wish for Fortis to stay in the tournament.
