Motorcyles banned outside districts from July 7 to 13

The government has decided that no motorcycles will be allowed to ply from one district to another district for seven days before and after Eid-ul-Azha.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting held at the Ministry of Road Transport at the secretariat in Dhaka on Sunday (July 3).
The Road Transport Division will issue a circular conveying the government's decision to all concerned.

Following the meeting, Road Transport Secretary ABM Amin Ullah Noori said motorcycles from one district to another district would not ply from July 7 to 13. "Motorcycles will not ply three days before Eid, on Eid day and three days after Eid from one district to another district without any valid reason. At the same time, no ride sharing will be allowed on all highways of the country."

"If someone wants to go from one district to another district, he/she must inform police. One district's motorcycles will be able to move to another district with prior permission of police," he said.

The Road Transport Secretary further said motorcycles registered in Dhaka will ply in Dhaka only, while Chattogram's motorcylces will ply in Chattogram and Barishal's motorcycles will ply in Barishal only. A circular will be issued soon in light of the decision, he also said.
