Heavy rain paralyses life, causes waterlogging, traffic chaos in Dhaka

Many parts of the capital Dhaka turned into swamps, paralysing normal life and creating traffic chaos due to torrential rain on Wednesday afternoon.

Thoroughfares, lanes and bylanes were partially or fully submerged in those areas. It was also experienced in Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions.
The sky of the capital Dhaka was covered by cloud from the morning. Drizzling started at 4:00pm, which later turned into torrential rain in many places.

The Met office, however said the intensity of cold will not increase though there was torrential rain in the capital on Wednesday afternoon. Such a weather will continue for the next two days. Then the temperature will start sliding, which may result in increasing the intensity of cold.

The Met Office in its forecast said weather may remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country throughout the day on Thursday.

Moderate to thick fog may occur at places over the north-western part and river basins and light to moderate fog may occur elsewhere over the country during midnight to morning and it may continue till noon at places, it added.

Night temperature may fall slightly over the northwestern part and it may fall by (1-2)°C elsewhere over the country, the Met Office further said.
