As many as 18 people have been arrested in connection with assaulting Ekattor TV's journalist at Kawranbazar Rail Crossingarea in the capital.
DMP's Tejgaon Police Station under Tejgaon Division, Tejgaon Industrial Police Station and Hatirjheel Police arrested them conducting raids at Hatirjheel, Tejgaon Rail Crossing and Kawranbazar Rail Crossing areas throughout the day on Wednesday.
DMP's Tejgaon Division's additional deputy police commissioner Rubayat Zaman stated it on Wednesday night.
He said 18 people including the accused mugger were arrested for assaulting and mugging Ekattor TV journalist at about 2:30am on Tuesday. They were arrested conducting raids at Hatirjheel, Tejgaon Rail Crossing and Kawranbazar Rail Crossing areas throughout the day on Wednesday.
A case was filed with Hatirjheel Police Station in connection with the incident.
At about 2:30am on Wednesday (April 9), an organised gang of muggers attacked Ekattor TV's car at Kawran Bazar Rail Crossing area. They looted cash, mobile phones and other valuables including Eid dresses bought for his family. When the muggers were barred, they threw stones from the rail line, damaging the vehicle of Ekattor TV. Besides, reporter Ishtiaq Imon was inured being hit by the stones.
