A young woman started hunger strike demanding marriage at her boyfriend's home in Rajshahi's Durgapur upazila.
The woman, 22, has been staying in the house of Sagar, son of Babar Ali, at Jhaluka village under Jhaluka union of the upazila since Friday. Sagar is a member of bangladesh Army. The young girl is a college student and a resident of the same village.
Meanwhile, Sagar's family members have fled since the woman's hunger strike.
The woman who is on hunger strike said that she has been in an affair with Sagar for almost six years. In 2018, while studying in college, the two developed an affair. The young woman said she has no option but to die if Sagar does not marry her.
As all the members of Sagar's family are absconding, it was not possible to talk to any of their family members in this regard.
Durgapur Police Station Officer-in-charge Khairul Islam said legal action will be taken if complaints are received.
