A schoolgirl died after falling off the rooftop of a ten-storey building at Chawk Bazar area in
Chattogram city on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Monam Samad Tahmin, 15, daughter of Haider Ali, a resident of the area. She was a ninth of Madarbari City Girls High School in the city.
The victim's father Haider Ali said Tahmin was short-sighted, so she used to wear glasses. She even felt dizzy when she stood under the sun. On Monday, he left home around 9 am for work in Agrabad area while his wife went to drop the younger daughter at another school.
Later, he was informed that his daughter had fallen from the building.
Chawk Bazar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Wali Uddin Akbar said they recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
"Whether it is a
suicide or
accident will be known upon investigation," added the OC.
