Murder case verdict after 21yrs, 3 siblings among 19 get life term
A court in Joypurhat has sentenced 19 people to life term imprisonment in a murder case at Panchbibi upazila in 2002.
On Monday, Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Nurul Islam pronounced the judgement at 11:30am in presence of the 19 accused.
All the lifers are fined Tk 50,000 to each, in default, they will have to suffer two years more in the prison.
Of the lifers, Dola, Osman and Korman were the sons of Abdur Sattar.
According to the case statement, on November 22, 2002, some accused in the case took Abdur Rahman, son of Samsuddin, to another accused Alam's house in Horenda village from a paddy field. Later, he was tortured there with sticks, rods, electric wires and Abdur Rahman died on the spot.
Brother of the deceased Abdul Barik Munshi filed a case with Panchbibi Police Station the next day. Investigation officer of the case pressed chargesheet on June 25, 2004.
