The construction of much-dreamt Payra Port would change the entire socio-economic and political scenario of southern region of the country. Hitherto the most neglected region of the country would assume different meaning and vibrated with new pulsation of life in terms of both national economy and the national politics when this covetous infrastructure projects would be commissioned.
This was expressed by the speakers at an Iftar-cum-reception to Adv Yusuf Hossain Humayun on his being elected the President of Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association organized by Barisal Bibhag (division) Samity at the Islamic Foundation auditorium on Monday evening.
The speakers called upon the leaders of the association to sink all narrow differences , if there is any among them, and devote whole heartedly to suggest and assist the government to implement so many big development projects that the present government have taken to develop the southern region of the country.
Presided over by former minister, secretary and ambassador M Motiur Rahman , the function was addressed, among others, by the reception awardee Adv Yusuf Hossain Humayun, Samity President former Secretary Siraj Uddin Ahmed, General Secretary M A Jalil, Barisal district Awami League General Secretary Talukder Abdul Khaleque, Bar Council Member S.M.Rezaul Karim, Deputy Attorney General Advocate Harun-ar-Rashid, AL central leader Habibur Rahman Khan, journalists Ajoy Das Gupta and Azizul Islam Bhuyain, Poet Abdul Khaleque and retired Secretary Abdul Malek while Samity Joint Secretary Abu Bakr Siddique Sohel moderated the function.
In response to the reception accorded to him, Adv Yusuf said that the present government is pledged bound to bring rational development for all regions of the country. Like before, the southern region of the country would never be neglected and deprived off from the development initiatives of the government of Sheikh Hasina. He also listed a number of epoch-makings programmes of the present government that have already revolutionized the regional development of southern Bangladesh.
