The 44th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Krishak League (BKL) will be celebrated today (Tuesday).
On this day in 1972, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman formed BKL for developing the country's agriculture sector and to protect the interests of the farmers. Though, the existing committee was outdated and the last triennial national council of the BKL was held on July 20 in 2012 with Motahar Hossain Mollah, Advocate Khondoker Shamsul Huq Reza as its President and General Secretary respectively.
In observance of the day, the organization has taken elaborate programmes. As part of the programme, leaders of the organization will place wreaths to the portrait of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Memorial Complex around 8:00am.
Later, a colorful procession will also be brought out from Dhanmondi 32 Bangabandhu Memorial Complex and will be ended at Ganabhaban after marching different city thoroughfares.
