Pabna- An ‘outlawed party’ leader was chopped to death by miscreants at Bhainapara in Ataikula upazila on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Ibrahim Hossain, 35, a regional leader of the banned Purba Banglar Communist Party and son of Mostafa Bepari of the area.

Quoting locals, officer-in-charge of Ataikula Police Station Abdur Razzak said a group of miscreants took Ibrahim to a mango orchard of Bhainapara village around 12:30pm and hacked him with sharp weapons, leaving him dead on the spot.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy.

Ibrahim might have been killed by his rivals over establishing supremacy in the locality, the OC added.
