Bangladesh Observer staff win money suit in HC

The High Court on Wednesday upheld the trial court's order of realizing outstanding dues amounting to Tk 150,414,324 of the journalists, staff and employees of now defunct The Bangladesh Observer and the weekly Chitrali after dismissing the owners' civil revision.
A Division Bench comprising Justice Md Nuruzzaman and Justice SH Nurul Huda Jaigirdar passed the order after hearing the owners civil revision petition. The court also passed an order to continue the proceedings of the lower court's money execution case for realizing the outstanding dues.
Dhaka Fifth Joint District Judges Court passed a decree against the owners of the now defunct The Bangladesh Observer and the weekly Chitrali to pay the amount to the aggrieved journalists  and employees.
The journalists and employees had filed a decree execution case with the Fifth Joint District Judges Court for the realization of the decreed money.
Against the proceedings of the lower court, Nargis Rahman and three others of the owners' side filed a civil revision petition before the High Court to annul the proceedings of the decree execution case.
