BARISAL, Sept 25: At least 2,030 government primary schools in six districts of Barisal division are running without headmasters.
As per primary education officials, there were 3,305 government primary schools in the division in 2013 and more 2,695 primary schools were nationalised at that time. As a result, the number of government primary schools stood at 6,000. Out of those, the post of headmasters is going vacant at 2,030 schools.
District-wise vacant posts of headmasters are: 572 out of total 1,513 in Barisal, 475 out of 1,141 in Patuakhali, 252 out of 970 in Pirojpur, 190 posts out 1,014 in Bhola, 307 posts out of 750 in Barguna, and 234 out of 571 in Jhalakati.
As per Primary Education Directorate, 1,131 out of 3,305 old primary schools and 899 out of newly nationalised 2,695 primary schools are running without headmasters.
