
Khurshid
Alam will get the Lifetime Achievement Award in this year's Channel i
Music Award. The award giving ceremony will be held on September 29 at
Bangabandhu International Conference Center, Agargaon in the capital.
Awards in sixteen categories concerning music will be given in this
year's festival. This will be the twelfth time the annual award will be
delivered. Apart from Khurshid Alam, Shammi Akhter will get the special
mention award. Five other music composers and music directors will also
get special honourary awards. They are Alauddin Ali, Alam Khan, Sheikh
Sadi Khan, Azad Rahman and Ali Hossain. They will also sing at the award
function.
Among the performers in this year's award giving ceremony
will be band singer James. James will perform in the award function for
the first time. Momtaz, Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, Shafi Mondol will be
among other performers of the event. Izaz Khan will direct the entire
event.

Three films from Bangladesh will take part in
Film South Asia 2017, an international festival on documentary films.
"Sramik Awaz: Workers' Voice" and "Rope" will be screened in the
competitive section of the festival that will run from November 2 to 5
in Kathmundu, Nepal. The third one "The Scar" will be screened in
"Documentary of Decent" section. This will be the 11th edition of the
film festival. This year forty six films will vie for contention after
having been selected from three hundred submissions.
Workers' Voice
is based on the real-life stories of garment workers of Bangladesh.
Shamtali Haque has produced the film while Mohammad Romel has directed
it. The film was shot in and around Dhaka in the last two years. The
workers have shared their thoughts on union rights, their occupation and
life in the film. Workers' Voice will be screened in the 46th "Annual
Conference of South Asia". The film has already taken part in an
international film festival in New York, USA.
The second film "Rope"
has been directed by Yasmin Kabir. The Scar has been directed by Pradeep
Ghosh. The film will be screened in a section reserved for twelve
films.
