
A tribunal in Dhaka fixed August 20 to deliver its verdict in a case filed over attempted murder of Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina in Gopalganj in 2000.
Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Momtaz Begum set the date on Thursday.
On July 20, 2000, police recovered a huge bomb planted at the venue of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's public meeting at Sheikh Lutfor Rahman Government Adarsha College in Kotalipara.
Later, SI Nur Hossain filed a case under Explosive Substances Act with Kotalipara Thana in this connection.
On April 8, 2001, CID submitted chargesheet accusing 10 people including Harkat-ul Jihad (Huji) kingpin Mufti Abdul Hannan for plotting to kill the PM.
Meanwhile, Mufti Hannan was executed on April 12 this year for killing three in a grenade attack on the then British high commissioner Anwar Choudhury in Sylhet in 2004.
