Colombo, Aug 2: Former Bangladeshi captain Khaled Mahmud Sujon is slowly recovering in a hospital in Singapore, according to his brother Yafee .
Speaking exclusively from the Gleneagles Hospital, where he was air-lifted from Dhaka's United International Hospital (where he was initially admitted but health deteriorated late week), "please keep him in your prayers. His health is stable now and recovering. Hope he is in the best hands of the doctors here".
"It was the decision of the Government of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon and lot of Dignitaries to send here for the treatment ".
The 46-year-old ex-all rounder Khaled Mahmud had brain stroke because of high blood pressure and diabetes.
He is slowly opening the eyes and recognizes us, which is a good sign".
"He is being well looked after here by the respiratory and medicine doctors (including a female doctor Lo) in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and the endothelial tube is also removed this morning", the brother added.
Interestingly, the BCB's doctor Amin has also been sent to Singapore with the patient.
Dr. Amin will return early but his brother will stay with Khaled till he regains full recovery.
"Khaled's wife and children have not got visas yet", the brother also added. They may join, if his stay in Singapore is delayed.
Sangakkara's fan
Sujon was a manager of the Bangladeshi team during last Sri Lanka tour. Interestingly, the brother did not forget to remember Kumar Sangakkara.
"Please convey the news (Khaled's illness) to Sangakkara if you know him. My brother loves him very much".
"When Sanga was playing in Dhaka league, he was a regular visitor to our house. He was fond of food and enjoyed the dishes we used to make specially for him".
"The people and the players are sending the "get well soon" messages to the BCB and we appreciate it", the brother signed off.
