Old man beaten to death in Madaripur

MADARIPUR, June 12: An old man was beaten to death on money issue  at  Lohar Danga area in Chapatoli village  under Mostafapur in Sadar upazila on Saturday evening.
The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam Bepari,  65, of the village.
Locals and police said one Parvin Begum, wife of Sorhab Bepari and her daughter Sonia of the village, borrowed Tk 50 thousand from Abul Kalam Bepari two years back on a commitment of giving paddy in place of browed money.
This time  when Abul Kalam Bepari went to the house of the borrowers  to collect money/paddy, an altercation has arisen between the debtors and Kalam   on Saturday evening. The debtors beat up and injured Kalam mercilessly with   bamboo stick.
Kalam died on the spot. Police rushed to the spot and sent the body to Mdaripur Sadar Hospital for an autopsy. Madaripuir Sadar OC Jiaul Morshed confirmed the incident.
