Muhammad Shahidullah Memorial Debate Festival-2017 ends

PHOTO: OBSERVERFour-days long sixth Muhammad Shahidullah memorial debate festival-2017 concluded by distribution of prizes among winners from colleges and universities on Sunday.
Shahidullah Hall debating club organized the programme at the Dhaka University dormitory in remembrance of Muhammad Shahidullah, a Bengali educationist, writer, philologist and linguist.
The programme started on Thursday with 48 teams among 16 from colleges and 32 from universities.
 Zia hall debating club won the championship while Ekushey debating club became the runners up team at university-level while Rajuk secured the championship and Remiance debating club was the runner up team at college-level.
Prime Minister's Media Advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury handed over prizes among the winners, while Dhaka University vice-chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique was present as special guest.
Among others, Provost of Shahidullah Hall M Ainul Islam, Babul Hasan moderator of Shahidullah Hall debating club, Bangladesh Chhatra League Shahidullah Hall unit President M Sakib Hasan were present with Shahidullah Hall debating club president AM Mahmudul Hasan in the chair. General Secretary of Shahidullah Hall debating club Abdullah Al Noman conducted the programme.
In his address, The Daily Observer Editor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury emphasized importance of debate at national level.
Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury said "We have to find out way through our argument to implement the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's vision-2021 and 2041. It is possible to build a digitalized and developed Bangladesh through logic. Debate is important in all sections of our life including enacting law in the Parliament from the person's life."
