Channel i's new award recognising thriving talents introduced

Actress Bobita, the late Shahadat Chowdhury and two other renowned personalities have won the first "OK World-Channel i Gold Award." Syed Altaf Hossain, the sports trainer who has trained many of the cricketers who are making us proud and Ainul Haque, who spearheaded football team during the Liberation War to collect funds are the other two winners. The awards were given on May 20 at Four Point by Sheraton Hotel, Gulshan-2 in the capital. Each of the awardees received fifty thousand taka along with cloaks. Posthumous recipient Shahadat Chowdhury's award was received by his wife Selina Chowdhury and daughter Shasha Chowdhury. Bobita announced to donate her prize money for the treatment of ailing journalist Juton Chowdhury. The award will be given each year to recognize the labourious minds of the land that thrive to take the country forward.
At the award giving ceremony Minister of Industries Tofail Ahmed, Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu were present as chief guest and special guest. Faridur Reza Sagar, managing director of Channel i gave the welcome speech. Saidur Rahman Patel, the brains behind Shadhin Bangla Football Dal; Faruk Ahmed, former chief selector of Bangladesh Cricket Board; former cricket team captain Habibul Bashar Sumon and former batsman Javed Omar Belim; Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, president of Film Directors' Association; filmmaker Mostafa Sarwar Farooki were present among others at the event.
