Naldanga municipality upgraded to second class rank

NATORE, Apr 7: The Ministry of the Local Government Department has promoted Naldanga municipality of the district to 2nd class rank from
3rd class.
AKM Anisuzzaman, assistant secretary to Ministry of the Local Government informed the matter to the authority of the Naldanga municipality through a letter with the order of Honourable President on Wednesday.
Shafiul Kabir, assistant Engineer and secretary of the municipality said, the letter, regarding the matter, was signed by AKM Anisuzzaman, assistant secretary of the Poura Unit-2 of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) under the Ministry of LGD on Monday noon and they received it at Naldanga Poura office on Wednesday around 10am.
The engineer Shafiul Karim confirmed the letter and said, the pourashava was promoted to the second class rank. As a result, the socio-economic development and the dignity of the citizens will increase more than before.
Besides, the implementation of various development projects will be possible using the development fund easily.
On the other hand, Shafir Uddin Mondol, Mayor of Naldanga Pourashava expressed his happiness and said that he was elected Mayor one year ago and by this time the pourashava  got the 2nd class rank.
He further said, the pourashava received Tk 1 crore as development fund from the government for development works alongside the other serial grant. He said, public taxes have been increased for the interest of pourashava. The citizens are not annoyed for this, rather they pay taxes regularly.
Moreover, a special grant from the climate
development fund may come very soon for the pourashava.
On the other hand, hearing the news all classes of people became very glad and distributed sweets among the citizens. Beside that a joyous rally was brought out that paraded the main roads of the pourashava.
Later, a public meeting was held on Naldanga Bazar premises where Mayor Shafir Uddin Mondol, Upazila Awami League Secretary SM Firoz and Roish Uddin Rubel, member of the Zila Parishad Natore spoke in the meeting.
