Rab intelligence wing chief Lt Col Abul Kalam Azad died as a splinter of a bomb penetrated into his brain through his eye, said autopsy.
Dr Sohel Mahmud, head of the Forensic Department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital(DMCH), who conducted the autopsy, said the Rab official died due to blast and a splinter of a bomb was found in his brain.
The splinter penetrated into brain through his left eye, he said.
Earlier, Abul Kalam Azad, who was injured during an operation against militants in Sylhet, died at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dhaka early Friday.
Azad, who was taken to Singapore for better treatment after his injuries in bomb blasts during the operation, codenamed 'Twilight', on March 25, breathed his last at the CMH around 12:05 am, Rab officials said.
Earlier, on Wednesday, Azad was brought back home from Singapore.
His first namaz-e-janaza will be held at Cantonment Central Mosque after Jum'a prayers while the second at Rab Headquarters at 3 pm.
He will be buried at Banani military graveyard.
Six people, including two policemen, were killed and 40 others, including Azad and another official of the intelligence wing, injured in two bomb blasts in front of Gotatikor Madrasah adjacent to militant den Atia Mahal in Dakkhin Surma upazila in Sylhet on the night of March 25 during the army-led operation on a militant den.
He was flown to Singapore on March 26 for better treatment.
