$60,291 Japan’s grant for National Zoo

Japan will provide extended grant assistance worth US$60,291 to the National Zoo for improvement of audio-visual equipment for educational exhibition.
According to the Japanese Embassy the project contributes diversification of education on biology of wild animals and environment in Bangladesh through improvement of audio-visual equipment including signboards and speaker system in the Zoo.
Japanese Ambassador in Dhaka Masato Watanabe and Curator of the National Zoo Dr SM Nazrul Islam signed the grant contract for the project at the Embassy of Japan in Dhaka.
At the signing ceremony, Ambassador Watanabe said the mutual understanding between the peoples of Japan and Bangladesh needs to be deepened further in various fields as the Prime Ministers of the two countries underlined.
The grant assistance was provided under the scheme of Grant Assistance for Cultural Grassroots Projects.
During a visit in Dhaka in 2014, both Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe underlined that the mutual understanding between the peoples of Japan and Bangladesh should be deepened further in various fields on the occasion.
Expressing his gratitude to the people of Japan and the Japanese government Nazrul Islam said he is pleased to be able to improve audio-visual equipment in the Zoo so that various types of education in the field of biology of wild animals and environment can be developed and received by students and researchers in the country.
In terms of strengthening longtime amicable bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and Japan further, the government of Japan made a study on additional cooperation between two countries in the field of biodiversity and wild animal conservation to improve conservation of endangered Royal Bengal Tigers raised in Bangladesh National Zoo, according to the Japanese Embassy in Dhaka.
