Europeans to Join US-mediated Ukraine peace talks

European countries, including France, will participate in US-mediated talks between Ukraine and Russia in Abu Dhabi on November 10–11, as diplomatic efforts intensify to end the war.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced on Sunday (November 8) that European representatives would take part in the discussions, stressing that no agreement affecting Europe's security could be negotiated without European involvement.
The talks are expected to bring together Ukrainian, Russian and US representatives to discuss ending the conflict, post-war security arrangements, de-escalation and humanitarian measures.
US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff previously announced plans for the meeting, while Washington has been pushing for a breakthrough in efforts to end Russia's war against Ukraine.
European participation comes amid concerns that decisions over Ukraine's future and Europe's security architecture could be made without sufficient input from its allies.
France has yet to announce who will represent the country at the negotiations.
