Jamaat-e-Islami lawmaker Mufti Amir Hamza has dismissed allegations involving audio and video recordings linked to him as a conspiracy against religious scholars, criticising Prime Minister's Political Assistant Rashed Khan over the claims.

Speaking at a religious gathering in Bogura, the Kushtia-3 MP said similar attempts had been made to discredit Islamic scholars during the Awami League government's tenure.

Referring to an alleged audio recording involving the late Islamic scholar Delawar Hossain Sayeedi, Hamza claimed that artificial intelligence had been used to create fabricated recordings. He said law enforcement officials had played him such an audio during his remand under the previous government.

Hamza alleged that a similar conspiracy was now being carried out against religious scholars. He also accused India of being involved in efforts to prevent scholars from speaking the truth, although he provided no evidence to support the claim.

The controversy began on November 6, when Rashed Khan claimed in a Facebook post that he had obtained audio and video recordings involving Hamza. He said he had fact-checked the materials and found them authentic, and shared parts of an alleged conversation.

In the audio, a man can reportedly be heard expressing remorse and saying he would seek forgiveness from the people concerned. However, the speaker's identity and the authenticity of the recording have not been independently verified.
