The Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry (JBCCI) has supported an investment summit aimed at promoting foreign direct investment (FDI), improving the business environment and encouraging sustainable industrial growth in Bangladesh.

The summit, titled “Investors Meetup 3.0 | 2026”, was held on November 7 at the Multipurpose Hall of BIDA Bhaban in Agargaon, Dhaka, with participation from policymakers, industry leaders, investors, entrepreneurs and business representatives.

JCI Dhaka Achievers and BDFairs jointly organised the event, with support from the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI), Leather Foundation of Bangladesh (LFB) and JBCCI.

Representing JBCCI, its immediate past president and Managing Director of New Vision Solutions Ltd Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan moderated a panel discussion on sustainable industry and environmental, social and governance (ESG) investment. The discussion focused on green financing, energy efficiency, sustainable technologies and responsible industrial practices to attract international investment.

JBCCI Chief Representative of Itochu Corporation and Director Hiroaki Oura also joined a panel discussion on ease of doing business, FDI and investment opportunities, highlighting investment facilitation, regulatory challenges and industrial development.

BCI President Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury attended the opening session as the chief guest. He stressed the need for policy consistency, regulatory reforms, lower industrial production costs and stronger institutional mechanisms to improve Bangladesh's competitiveness in international markets.

The summit also featured discussions on developing the country's halal industry, expanding halal exports, strengthening international certification systems and improving supply-chain traceability. Participants also highlighted renewable energy, waste management, decarbonisation and sustainable financing as key elements of future industrial development.
