A song dedicated to ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was accidentally broadcast over a Chittagong Metropolitan BNP campaign loudspeaker, police confirmed on Sunday (November 8).
A 36-second video of the incident, which occurred at Badamtali intersection in Agrabad on Saturday during National Revolution and Solidarity Day, went viral on Facebook. The video captures the song titled "Bongobondhur Konna Tumi Bangladesher Neta" playing while traffic passed nearby.
Double Mooring Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Arif Faisal stated on Sunday (8 November) that the track played accidentally whilst organizers were streaming party songs from YouTube, and was stopped immediately. He added that no arrests were made after officers visited the spot.
Chittagong Metropolitan BNP Joint Convener Shawkat Azam Khaja noted that sound operators were broadcasting party speeches and songs, but no activists were present at noon when the operator's mobile phone triggered the track. Chittagong BNP Member Secretary Nazimur Rahman stated he was unaware of the matter but pledged to investigate.
