Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) on Friday gave a 72-hour ultimatum to remove the Joypurhat Deputy Commissioner (DC) after the photo of martyr President Ziaur Rahman was omitted from an event banner.
The Joypurhat district unit of JCD expressed severe condemnation and anger over the absence of Ziaur Rahman's (Bir Uttam) photo on the banner of an event organised by the district administration on Thursday (November 7) to mark the historic National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
The student organisation also strongly criticised the passive role of the DC during the programme, where a speaker repeatedly addressed someone as the "Father of the Nation."
In a press release signed by Naeem Islam, organizational secretary of Joypurhat district JCD, the student body demanded the immediate removal of the DC within 72 hours.
The press release was issued under the direction of Joypurhat district JCD President AKM Golam Mahfuz Shuvo and General Secretary KM Shakil Hossain.
The JCD leaders warned that they would announce tougher programmes if their demand was not met within the stipulated timeframe.
