Mitford Hospital doctor killed in accident

A female physician lost her life and her husband sustained injuries after a motorized van overturned in Kuakata, Patuakhali on Saturday evening.
The deceased was identified as Dr. Nabila Nusrat, 32, a physician at Sir Salimullah Medical College (Mitford) Hospital in Dhaka. Her husband, Dr. Mainul Islam Shuvo, who works at Bangladesh Medical University, was injured in the incident.
The accident occurred around 6:00 PM on Saturday (7 November) while the couple was traveling to visit the Mishripara Buddhist Temple in Kuakata.
According to Dr. Mainul Islam Shuvo, the couple arrived in Kuakata from Dhaka on Friday and stayed at the Ocean View Hotel. On Saturday afternoon, they boarded a motorized van along with two other tourists to visit the Mishripara Buddhist Temple.
During the journey, a cat suddenly ran under the wheels of the motorized van. The driver lost control of the vehicle while attempting to avoid the animal, causing the van to overturn and throwing all four passengers onto the road.
Dr. Nabila suffered severe head injuries after being trapped beneath the overturned vehicle. She was rescued in critical condition and rushed to Kalapara Upazila Health Complex, where attending physicians declared her dead upon arrival.
Dr. Mainul noted that his late wife had entered government service after passing the 42nd BCS examination and was subsequently posted at Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital.
Kalapara Police Station Inspector (Officer-in-Charge) Elias Talukder confirmed that a police team was dispatched to the hospital upon receiving information about the casualty.
He stated that the individual accompanying the deceased identified himself as her husband, and law enforcement officers are currently verifying the details to proceed with necessary legal actions.
