BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has stated that the nation rediscovered true freedom and the resolve to strengthen its sovereignty through the historic events of 7 November.
Speaking to journalists on Saturday (7 November) after paying homage at the grave of the party's founder, martyred President Ziaur Rahman, Rizvi noted that the release of Ziaur Rahman provided the entire nation with a renewed sense of direction.
Recalling the political landscape of 1975, Rizvi alleged that an attempt was made to permanently shackle the nation within minutes on 25 January through the establishment of BAKSAL, stripping citizens of their fundamental rights and plunging the country into severe anarchy and political turmoil.
He remarked that when Ziaur Rahman and his family were confined to their cantonment residence following political developments, the aspirations of an independent nation were cast into deep despair and fear.
He credited Ziaur Rahman's subsequent freedom on 7 November with rescuing the country from chaos, restoring multi-party democracy, and elevating Bangladesh's standing in the international arena through development and production.
