Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) Chairman Mujibur Rahman Manju has said the party’s main goal is to change people’s lives, establish their rights and dignity, and find practical solutions to the country’s problems rather than share political power.

He made the remarks as the chief guest at a workers’ meeting organised by AB Party’s Dhaka South unit at the party’s central office on Friday.

Manju said many political parties had failed to bridge the gap between people’s expectations and their achievements despite taking responsibility for governing the country.

AB Party wants to address that gap, he said, adding that politics should be a means of securing people’s rights and improving their living standards rather than merely a competition for power.

He said party leaders and activists must demonstrate through their actions why people should choose AB Party over the country’s many political parties.

Political clashes, violence and power struggles have made people lose interest in politics, Manju said. People want to live in peace and enjoy their rights without being drawn into political conflict and revenge, he added.

He said the party could establish itself as a distinct political force only by earning public trust and confidence through honest conduct, sincerity and engagement with people.

Speaking as a special guest, AB Party Joint General Secretary Barrister Zobayer Ahmed Bhuiyan said no political party became strong overnight. A party grows through people’s love, trust and confidence, which require determination, patience, sincerity and hard work.

He said the party must demonstrate its principles through practical action and ensure that people can work freely in business, professions and workplaces.

He also stressed the importance of respecting party workers and strengthening the organisation through mutual trust and respect.

The meeting was chaired by Dhaka South AB Party convener Abdul Halim Khokon. Leaders from different police station units of the city’s southern division discussed organisational activities, the role of party workers and future plans.
