Restaurant owners in Chattogram have raised concerns over high commissions, service charges and other costs imposed by online food delivery platforms, including Foodpanda.
The concerns were raised at an organisational meeting of the Chattogram Restaurant Owners Association held at the Family Dining Hall of Chattogram Club on Thursday night.
During the meeting, restaurant owners discussed their business challenges, demands and the current state of the country’s restaurant industry.
Participants said online food delivery platforms had become an integral part of the restaurant business. However, they stressed the need for reasonable and transparent commission and service charge structures.
They also called for balanced and sustainable business relationships between restaurant owners and delivery platforms while ensuring the legitimate interests of restaurant businesses.
The meeting also discussed strengthening the association’s organisational activities, improving communication and cooperation among members, protecting business owners’ rights and outlining future plans.
Participants expressed their commitment to working together to address existing challenges and raise their legitimate demands through discussions with relevant authorities and service providers.
They expressed hope that collective initiatives would contribute to the development of Chattogram’s restaurant industry and protect the interests of restaurant owners.
