A clash broke out between two groups in Saltha, Faridpur, over the installation of a fence along the boundary of a piece of farmland. At least 10 people were injured in the incident. During the altercation, members of the opposing side attacked and extensively vandalized at least 15 residential houses. Five of the injured have been admitted to the hospital.

The clash occurred on Wednesday afternoon (November 4) in Meherdia village, located in the Gotti Union of Saltha Upazila. Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.

According to local residents, a long-standing dispute had existed between Kalam Munshi and Nur Islam Munshi, both from Meherdia village, over local dominance and the farmland in question. As a result of this ongoing tension, when Kalam Munshi attempted to install a fence along the boundary of his farmland on Wednesday afternoon, supporters of Nur Islam assaulted him. Once news of the incident spread, individuals from both sides gathered in the fields armed with local weapons and engaged in a clash.

During the confrontation, which involved chases and counter-chases lasting nearly an hour, the participants attacked and vandalized at least 15 homes, causing widespread panic in the area.

At least 10 people, including Kalam Munshi and Shahjahan Matubbar, sustained injuries. Five of those injured have been taken to the hospital.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Saltha Police Station, Md. Bablur Rahman Khan, stated that the clash between the two groups was triggered by a fence being installed on a piece of land in Meherdia village. Police responded promptly to the scene and brought the situation under control. The area is currently calm.
