Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that its air defence units shot down two more US drones over Bandar Khamir in the southern Hormozgan province on Tuesday.
In a statement, the IRGC’s Hormozgan provincial unit said air defence units operating under Iran’s integrated air defence network destroyed the two drones.
The latest incident follows several reported encounters involving US drones in Iranian airspace and waters.
On Monday night, the IRGC said, its forces had shot down two US MQM-170 reconnaissance drones south of Qeshm Island using advanced electronic warfare systems operated by its Aerospace Force. The statement said the number of US drones of this type intercepted had reached four.
The IRGC also claimed to have detected and destroyed a US MQ-9 drone in the eastern part of the Strait of Hormuz. According to the force, the number of MQ-9 drones downed by Iran’s air defence systems has now reached 55, reports Tasnim News.
