Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is set to inaugurate the country's first-ever "Bangladesh Solar Expo 2026" at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, November 3, at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre (BCFCC) in Agargaon, Dhaka.
The detail was announced earlier by Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Iqbal Hasan Mahmud during a press briefing held at Bidyut Bhaban on Sunday afternoon.
The two-day exhibition, carrying the theme "Utilize every inch of your rooftop, boost earnings from solar energy," will take place on November 3 and 4 and remain open to all visitors. Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud noted that following the formal inauguration, the Prime Minister will tour various technology stalls at the expo.
The event is jointly organized by the Power Division under the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, and the Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL).
Seminars and Strategic Focus on Green Energy
During the expo, four dedicated seminars will be hosted to address key facets of solar power, expanding renewable energy infrastructure nationwide, boosting solar energy's share in the national energy mix, and encouraging citizens to install solar panels on rooftops and unutilized lands.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit emphasized that the government is actively implementing strategies to reduce electricity deficits by 2030 and minimize public suffering during summer peak periods.
Key officials present at the press conference included Power Division Secretary Mirana Mahrukh and Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) Chairman Engineer Md. Rezaul Karim.
The primary objective of the expo is to support the execution of the National Renewable Energy Development Strategy (2026–2030) and inform stakeholders regarding government policies, tax incentives, and financial support for solar energy deployment.
Alongside showcases of advanced solar technologies, the expo will highlight opportunities for green and climate financing, carbon credits, solar-powered irrigation systems, and technical skill development programs, while building operational partnerships between investors, financial institutions, tech providers, and policy makers.
