A parliamentary committee has sought a detailed explanation for repeated technical glitches in the aircraft carrying the prime minister, while calling for investigations into alleged procurement irregularities at Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

At a meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Monday (November 2), the committee also stressed identifying those responsible for irregularities in aircraft and spare-parts purchases and examining potential revenue losses caused by weaknesses in Biman’s IT systems.

The committee asked the relevant authorities to investigate the technical problems involving the prime minister’s aircraft and submit a clear explanation.

It also sought details of unresolved audit objections, recovered funds and disciplinary action taken against those involved in alleged financial irregularities.
