A Bangladesh-made app, Parul, is bringing different animal care features together in one place. The app helps users find lost pets, rescue animals in danger, adopt pets and find blood donors and veterinary care.
The app aims to make it easier for pet owners and animal lovers to get help without searching through many Facebook groups and social media posts.
Launched on Google Play in October 2026, Parul gained more than 1,600 users within its first two weeks. The app is free to use, and its iOS version is coming soon.
Finding lost petsOne of Parul's main features is its Lost and Found service.
If a pet goes missing, its owner can post details and pictures through the app. People living nearby will receive notifications about the missing animal.
Users can choose an alert area of one to five kilometres. For example, if a cat goes missing in Dhanmondi 10, people using Parul in that area can receive a notification saying that a pet is missing nearby.
This can help owners find their pets more quickly. A recent missing-pet report from Badda reached more than 150 nearby people, according to the app's press kit.
Animal rescue and adoptionThe app also has a Rescue feature where users can ask for help for injured, sick or helpless animals. They can share updates and work with others to arrange rescue, shelter and medical care.
Through its adoption section, users can give animals up for adoption or adopt a pet. The platform checks on new pet owners on the third, seventh, 15th and 30th days to make sure the animals are being properly cared for.
Buying and selling animals are not allowed on the platform. Accounts that try to do so can be restricted.
Blood donors and veterinary servicesParul has a blood donor network for cats and dogs. If a pet needs blood, owners can look for registered donors nearby instead of posting in several social media groups.
A veterinarian must check whether an animal is healthy and suitable for blood donation.
The app also allows owners to keep vaccination records and other health information about their pets.
The team plans to add 24-hour emergency veterinary consultations in the future.
Social networking for pets and ownersParul is not only an animal care app but also a social platform.
Users can create their own profiles, share photos and daily activities, and connect with other animal lovers.
Every pet can also have a separate profile with photos, followers and vaccination records. Users can follow their friends' pets and interact with other pet owners.
The app also has area-based communities and private circles where people can share information and help animals in their neighbourhoods.
Users can also send free virtual treats to other pets.
More services coming soonThe Parul team plans to add several more services, including animal transport, foster homes, shelters and an online shop for pet products.
Through the planned shop, users will be able to find items such as cat food, litter, medicines and other pet supplies.
The team is also working on a system to report animal abuse and help users find legal support.
Privacy and location safetyThe app uses location information to connect people living nearby. However, users can choose not to share their location. Their exact location is not shown to other users.
The location of found animals is also shown approximately to protect their safety.
How Parul startedThe idea came from the experience of its founder, Mahbub Alam Rabin, whose cat Parul often went missing.
He used to post in different Facebook groups to find his cat but found that many people who saw those posts lived too far away to help.
This inspired him to create an app that could connect pet owners with animal lovers living nearby.
The app was developed by a volunteer team led by Rabin, with co-founders Kamrul Hasan, who works as chief technology officer, and Arifur Rahman, who manages operations. All team members work as volunteers.
Parul is currently available for free on Google Play across Bangladesh.
At its heart, Parul is built on a simple belief that no animal should be left helpless or forgotten. By connecting people who care, the app hopes to make it easier for lost pets to return home, injured animals to receive help and more animals to find loving homes.
