Netrokona BGB seizes contraband Indian goods in six raids

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized Indian goods, including blankets, traditional clothes, and coal, valued at approximately 280,000 BDT during six separate drives along the Netrokona border on Sunday (November 1).

The seized items included 44 Indian blankets, 23 pieces of Thami cloth, 480 kilograms of coal, and 250 kilograms of Bangladeshi garlic, according to a press release issued by Netrokona 31 BGB Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Touhidul Bari on Monday (November 2) morning.

Patrol teams from Bijoypur, Maheshkhola, and Lengura Border Outposts (BOP) conducted the operations throughout Sunday based on specific intelligence inputs.

During the operations, BGB personnel seized 10 Indian blankets from the West Bijoypur area, 250 kilograms of garlic from the Jongkhol area, and an additional 30 Indian blankets from the Prembazar area under Bijoypur BOP.

In separate drives, Maheshkhola BOP patrols seized 23 pieces of Indian Thami cloth and 480 kilograms of coal from the Noklai region, while a Lengura BOP team recovered four Indian blankets near the Satshohider Mazar area.

The BGB commander stated that all items were seized in an abandoned state and the process to hand over the confiscated goods to the Netrokona Customs Office is currently underway.
