Registration for three-wheeled battery-powered e-rickshaws across 13 city corporations nationwide will officially commence on Monday while strict laws have been imposed to penalise the rule breakers.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Secretariat on Sunday, State Miniser Mir Shahe Alam confirmed the new guidelines for low-speed battery-powered rickshaws.
State minister outlined several specific traffic and structural violations that will now bring e-rickshaw drivers under legal scrutiny.

According to the newly framed regulations, punishable offenses include operating without registration, exceeding designated speed limits, carrying excess passengers, using unauthorized batteries, modifying the motor or vehicle structure, driving dangerously, and operating within prohibited zones or restricted routes.
Additionally, carrying goods without passengers, disobeying traffic signals, and fleeing the scene of an accident will also be treated as criminal infractions, subjecting offending drivers to formal legal action.
