At least 20 people were injured during repeated clashes between two local groups in Brahmanbaria's Ashuganj following an altercation between two youths over a TikTok comment.
The incident escalated on Saturday morning in Ashuganj Bazar after an initial reconciliation meeting failed to keep the peace.
According to police and local sources, an argument between two young men over a TikTok comment on Friday led to rising tensions between two rival groups from Sohagpur village.
Local leaders held an arbitration session on Saturday morning at Jaru Miah's shop in Ashuganj Bazar, with police present, where the dispute was initially resolved.
However, shortly after police departed following the meeting, both factions resumed violent clashes on the streets.
Ashuganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Anisur Rahman confirmed the incident, stating that despite the initial settlement during the morning arbitration, renewed fighting broke out after officers left the spot. He added that the situation is currently under control and at least 20 people sustained injuries.
