A fresh cyclone threat has emerged over the Bay of Bengal shortly after the devastation caused by Cyclone Arnab.
The low-pressure system in the southeast Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a deep depression within hours and could develop into a cyclone by November 1, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
In a message shared on X, the IMD stated that the well-marked low-pressure area moving west-northwestward is likely to approach the Andhra Pradesh coast in the west-central Bay of Bengal by the evening of November 2.
The potential storm threatens to hit the Andhra Pradesh coast, which is still recovering from the severe impact of Cyclone Arnab. Arnab made landfall between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam on October 28 with wind speeds reaching 130 km/h, causing widespread damage, uprooting trees, flooding farmland, and severely disrupting power and transport networks across Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
