The ongoing road blockade on the tourist route to Sajek Union in Rangamati's Baghaichhari upazila will be relaxed for one day on Sunday (November 1) in consideration of the basic needs of local residents.
The decision was taken by two organisations leading the blockade, according to a press release sent to the media on Friday.
Babudhan Chakma and Natun Joy Chakma announced the decision on behalf of the Sajek People's Rights Protection Committee and Sajek Karbari Association.
The press release said the indefinite road blockade would resume as usual from November 2.
The two organisations also said special relaxation would be arranged through discussions to allow members of the Buddhist community to observe the Kathina Chibar Dana festival without disruption.
They urged the authorities of relevant religious institutions and Buddhist monasteries to contact the organisations to make the necessary arrangements.
The press release was issued by Bijoy Kanti Chakma, member secretary of the Sajek People's Rights Protection Committee.
