Tahsif knew how to swim: Father

AKM Enayetul Karim, father of former Bangladesh Air Force flight lieutenant KM Tahsif Souri, has rejected the account provided to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) by Tahsif's "friend" Ahmed Shahriar Reza Dip regarding his son's death, alleging that attempts are being made to divert the investigation.

Speaking on Friday (October 30) regarding the information provided by Dip during PBI interrogation—that Tahsif jumped into the Turag River while being chased—Tahsif's father strongly questioned the narrative.

Tahsif's father, AKM Enayetul Karim, stated, "My son was an Air Force pilot. As part of his flight training, he completed a major swimming course and held a certification for it. Therefore, it is unbelievable that someone who knew how to swim would simply jump and drown."

He further questioned, "Why would anyone chase him? These are complete nonsense and out of the question. It seems to me that attempts are being made to conceal the actual incident and present it differently."

According to investigative sources, Tahsif left his home on the evening of October 27 after receiving a call from Dip and remained missing until his body was recovered from the Turag River the next day (October 28). PBI Dhaka Metro North detained Dip on Thursday night for questioning in connection with the death.

PBI reported that during interrogation, Dip claimed that while they were talking at the scene, a group of people chased them, prompting Tahsif to jump into the Turag River while Dip managed to escape. Based on information provided by Dip, PBI recovered an unnumbered motorcycle near the spot where Tahsif's body was found, though authorities are still verifying whether the motorcycle belonged to Tahsif.

However, PBI Dhaka Metro North Inspector Syed Sajedur Rahman noted that Dip has been changing his statements. Authorities are investigating why Dip left Tahsif behind and fled alone, with full details expected upon the conclusion of the probe.
