Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for Jumanji: Open World, bringing back Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan for another adventure as the video game’s dangers spill into the real world.
Released on October 28, the trailer offers a fresh look at the upcoming action-adventure film, which is scheduled to hit cinemas on December 25, 2026. Directed by Jake Kasdan, the movie is the latest instalment in the modern Jumanji film series.
Unlike the previous films, in which characters entered the game, Jumanji: Open World turns the premise around. The game breaks free of its console, bringing dangerous creatures and unpredictable challenges into the real world.
The trailer also features the franchise’s familiar body-swapping comedy, as the characters face new challenges while trying to prevent the game from wreaking further havoc.
Johnson, Hart, Black and Gill reprise their roles as Dr Smolder Bravestone, Franklin “Mouse” Finbar, Professor Shelly Oberon and Ruby Roundhouse, respectively. The returning cast also includes Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain, Nick Jonas, Rhys Darby and Danny DeVito.
Kasdan returns as director and co-wrote the screenplay with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. The film is based on the book Jumanji by Chris Van Allsburg.
The new film follows Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019), continuing the story of the video game and the people drawn into its world. Jumanji: Open World is billed as the final instalment of the current action-adventure trilogy.
