Former Bangladesh Air Force Flight Lieutenant KM Tahsif Souri had no visible external injury marks on his body, but blood was found coming from his nose, according to an inquest report prepared after his body was recovered from the Turag River.

Sub-Inspector Mostafizur Rahman of the Tongi River Police Outpost prepared the report after Tahsif’s body was recovered near Rajabari ferry terminal in Tongi on Wednesday (October 28) afternoon.

The report described Tahsif as approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, with black hair and a short black beard and moustache. His eyes and mouth were closed when the body was recovered, his hands were bent towards his forehead, and his fists were open. His abdomen was also swollen.

His chest, abdomen, back, legs and other body parts appeared normal, with no visible external injuries, the report said. He was wearing a black-sleeved kabli shirt and white trousers.

A preliminary River Police report said a wristwatch was found on his hand and an iPhone in his pocket. His identity was confirmed using the phone.

River Police sources said the body was sent to the morgue at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College for an autopsy after the inquest examination.

According to an internal River Police report, a call to the national emergency service 999 around 4:30PM on Wednesday alerted authorities to a body floating in the Turag River. A team from the Tongi River Police Outpost later recovered it near Rajabari Ghat.

The inquest findings describe the body’s external condition but do not establish the cause of death. The autopsy report and investigation will be important in determining the circumstances.
