At least 20 to 25 people, including women, were injured in a violent clash between two rival groups at Jitrampur Titir Char under Chardighaldi union in Madhabdi, Narsingdi, early Thursday (October 29) morning.
Local sources reported that this marks the fourth or fifth violent confrontation between the opposing factions in the area over the past two months, creating widespread panic and heightened tension among residents.
A local resident, Momin Mia, alleged that a group of men launched an attack on their homes during the early hours when displaced family members attempted to return to their residences, from which they had reportedly been driven out two months ago.
Momin claimed that 10 to 12 people from his group sustained injuries, including Taijuddin, Ahsan Ullah, Nur Islam, Arjina, and Ramjan, adding that Ramjan lost two teeth due to a crude bomb explosion during the violence.
Contrastingly, Chan Mia, representing the opposing faction, claimed that their rivals launched a pre-dawn attack using spears and crude bombs, resulting in injuries to 10 to 12 members of his group, while alleging political links between local leaders and the attackers.
Meanwhile, Shahid Member rejected those accusations, countering that Chan Mia's followers launched an unprovoked assault on them while they were asleep, resulting in injuries to 14 or 15 people on his side, including women.
Kamal Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madhabdi Police Station, confirmed receiving news of the early morning clash, stating that police units were deployed to the scene to stabilize the situation, which is currently under control, with additional forces on standby if required.
