Man arrested with counterfeit Tk 25,000

Detective Branch (DB) police have arrested a man with 25 counterfeit Tk 1,000 notes in Naogaon Sadar upazila.

The arrested man, Abdul Jabbar, 45, was detained during a raid on a rented house in the Dakshin Para area of Chakbaria under Naogaon Sadar around 9:30pm on Wednesday.

Jabbar is the son of Alek Shikder and was living as a tenant at the house of Ruhul Amin in the area.

Police Superintendent Mohammad Tarikul Islam confirmed the arrest around 10pm on Wednesday.

According to police, the DB team conducted the raid following a tip-off that a tenant at Ruhul Amin’s house was staying there to circulate counterfeit currency. Acting on the information, a special DB team raided the house on the instructions of the police superintendent and arrested Jabbar. The counterfeit notes were recovered from his possession in the presence of people at the scene.

The police superintendent said a case had been filed against the accused with Naogaon Sadar Police Station. He added that district police operations against criminal activities would continue.
